Welcome
/ Introduction
The Broads
offers some of Britain's finest wetlands with around 120 miles
of navigable waterways, set amid marshland, reed beds and windmills.
The surrounding area is perfect for walking, cycling, fishing,
bird watching and conservation. It is also a hive of creativity
with a lively events programme of musical concerts, outdoor performances,
exhibitions and galleries, a series of sculptures at key mooring
points.
Loddon and the River Chet
The Southern
River system, which includes the rivers Yare, Chet & Waveney,
flows from Norwich, via Whitlingham, Rockland and Surlingham Broad
to Hardley Cross where the river Chet flows into Loddon. Further
downstream the Yare converges with the Waveney and flows through
to the point of navigation at Geldeston.
It is also a hive of creativity with a lively events
programme, exhibitions and galleries, a series of sculptures at
key mooring points and a series of free outdoor performances and
artists in residence during July & August. An area of unspoilt,
tranquil, man-made nature-claimed beauty, worthy of protection
yet begging exploration. You will find it vibrant culturally,
innovative artistically, most distinctively different to its bustling
Northern counterpart. A gem waiting to be discovered and enjoyed….
